Quote of the Week - Robert Adams

"I remember one working through more than a hundred drafts of a four-paragraph statement for a catalogue, all to find something that would just keep out of the way of the pictures."

- Robert Adams

Bonus quote (also Adams):

"Or as Robert Frost told a person who asked him what one of his poems meant, 'You want me to say it worse?'"

One of my favourite lines from Why People Photograph!

There was this great interview I saw once with David Lynch where he bemoaned being asked to explain his films after a screening. He said there's nothing else to say beyond what he put in the film. "You just saw it. That's it." I paraphrase, but along the lines of: If you want to see someone talking about the film, you should film that and have the film be an hour longer to include the talking about the film.
